Description
Precision Aerobatics is proud to present the second release in the NEXT Generation PA planes. It started with the Bandit, and now comes the Katana MX. The NEXT Generation PA planes allow you to do a lot more than you would expect.
Back in the days, you had to choose: do you want an aggressive-flying plane (but be careful to fly it low and slow!) or a slow 3D flyer? Or perhaps you are after a precision flyer? Now, in this NEXT Generation – you can get it all in the one plane! The Katana MX is THE airplane of your dreams! IT WILL DO IT ALL – From precision to high energy to graceful slow and low 3d.. Find it hard to believe? You just gotta fly it
Being a NEXT Generation PA plane means the KMX sustains more energy when flown and by so keeping higher flight speeds which is vital when performing consecutive aerobatics or freestyle maneuvers and allowing sharp and quick turns, resulting in most impressive and breathtaking transitions. Yet, it can, JUST AS WELL, be flown like a big foamy when slow 3D and high AOA maneuvers are executed.
Being built using finest grade material, all cut by state-of-the-art laser and CNC machines and utilizing the very latest FiberFusion® building techniques(*), the KMX is incredibly lightweight and rigid. Due to the huge control surfaces, featherlike lightweight and the incredibly low wing loading, the KMX is a floater and will respond immediately to your stick inputs. It has so much power that it’s easy to get out of trouble – which is crucial when flying slow 3D. This is the reason we specifically designed this model with a very high thrust to weight ratio. You can easily execute hands off Harriers and elevators with just a few clicks of throttle thus making harrier landings super easy even in slight wind. The ability to execute harrier landings makes it ideal for flying in flying fields with exceptionally small landing strips (that would normally be out of the question for another contemporary model of this size).
Regardless of your piloting level, this plane will bring a smile to your face. If you are a beginner to intermediate looking for sport flying, or perhaps starting on 3D you’ll be amazed at how forgiving this plane is when it comes to flying beyond the stall! While others would have stalled and eaten dirt you will still be happily flying.
Advance pilots will fall in love simply because of its exceptionally wide flight envelope – this plane opens up a whole new world of aerobatic maneuvers by combining 3d with precision aerobatics that will ultimately expand your flying skills. It is capable of the most impressive knife edge death slides, snap to hover, precision rolling circles, one roll circles (not common and not easy to do in a plane this size, but this plane makes them super easy!). You’ll be in awe at how effortlessly you can get it to do exactly what you want. It simply locks in and tracks extremely well. Being so precise means it’s a perfect IMAC/Freestyle practice plane – it does the easiest inverted harriers and beautiful completely axial rolling harriers and rolling maneuvers. It also has tons of rudder authority for extremely easy knife edge and knife edge loops!
This model is based on one of our best sellers – the Katana MD, but naturally, we did a lot more than just increasing its size. Based on years of feedback from thousands of KMD owners from all over the world, we re-engineered the design. The Katana MX features a complete new aerodynamic design with new custom made airfoils and in fact it is only derived from the Katana MD but has been greatly re-engineered to achieve the performance and looks we were after. There is no doubt – if you loved the KMD, you would find the Katana MX simply irresistible.
Despite its wingspan being 1” smaller than the Extra MX, it is actually a much larger plane and has a look and feel of a large plane at the field. As any other PA model here too the two wings panels are removable with a CF wing tube and a CF sleeve. The KMX gives you “giant-scale” performance in a convenient and easily transportable package without ever worrying about storage space or vehicle size or having to drive for hours to get to a large enough flying field to fly.
Powered by PA Thrust 50 RotorKool® equipped motor and PA Quantum 70 Pro ESC with a switching BEC makes the KMX extremely responsive providing absolute control, extreme performance and predictability, so you are able to get out of the most difficult situations with ease – and this builds confidence. Unlike other models in this size category, the KMX is powered by two standard 2200mAh 11.1V packs, so you don’t need to get a new charger or buy a battery that is dedicated to only one model in your hangar. The two PA 2200mAh allow for 6 minutes of safe intensive 3D flight. This iPAs package has proven to be the most powerful yet most economical and reliable set up possible. Best of all, you don’t even need to know how to select your ESC, motor or battery or even need to learn how to program your ESC. Everything is done for you and all that is required is just to plug and play. With the iPAs package, we have made it as easy as it gets to get it right the first time when it comes to electrics. Not only does the iPAs package make it easy to get it right, it will give you the identical setup (and potential performance) as our Team Pilots.
The KMX is pre-assembled by our skilled staff who are specifically trained in building models using FiberFusion® construction techniques. In order to attain uniform performance for each and every model manufactured, we produce the planes on highly sophisticated and accurate jigs. Each set of wings are individually matched to each fuselage (this is something most factories don’t do even in giant scales production). We test assemble each airframe before shipping to ensure wing incidence, alignment and fit.
The ailerons (as well as the stab/elevators) are fully airfoiled and already pre-hinged with the gaps sealed andas such makes assembling a quick and easy affair. For maximum aerodynamics, the aileron design and construction in this model is exceptional, made in such a way that the hinge gap is completely sealed similar to full size high performance aerobatic planes. This is indeed quite complex to produce: the ailerons fit into the wing trailing edge tunnels and are glued and aligned in the factory. Despite the laborious production of this design we decided to produce the ailerons this way, as it allows perfect aerodynamic flow over the airfoil and results in maximum efficiency of the control surfaces. To us, it is the aerodynamic performance that counts.
(*)FiberFusion® is not just throwing some carbon fiber into the construction, as seen in some other models on the market today. FiberFusion® aircraft construction is a sophisticated engineering method, pioneered and developed by Precision Aerobatics. Each variance of fiber used in our models is carefully selected and utilized in a unique way seen ONLY in Precision Aerobatics models, resulting in a much lighter yet stronger and more rigid aircraft that will fly like nothing else! Unlike some manufacturers, we DO NOT add carbon fiber for merely the sake of adding it – as a marketing hype. We actually do it specifically to achieve an incredible low wing-loading for exceptional flight performance and handling characteristics without sacrificing airframe structural integrity in the process.
NOTE: APC 15×7 and 15×8 are NOT recommended for any of the PA planes as they generate a lot of vibrations being out of balance and will draw much higher amps compared to the Vox props at the same sizes being less efficient. The APC props might suite much heavier models that requires the extra thrust. Make sure your motorbox can handle them before using them as they can easily lead to motorbox failures due to the tremendous thrust.

What is iPAs? – Integrated Performance Airframe-Drive System
NO COMPROMISES, NO MODS, NO HASSLE
THIS IS THE REAL DEAL: PERFORMANCE OUT OF BOX
WHAT YOU SEE IN OUR VIDEOS IS WHAT YOU GET WITH iPAs
Unlike glow aircraft where it is mostly the matter of bolting on a specific size engine, the options for electric flight gear are simply overwhelming and matching electric gear to an airframe is a complex task for the average modeler and quite often can be very confusing.
Most manufacturers direct their customers to acquire a “compatible” motor and ESC or at best offer a “Combo” package that comprises of off-the-shelf motors and ESC that would, in theory “fit” within the model’s power requirements.
Surveys we conducted showed that each and every EP models flyer experienced at least one if not more of the problems below
- Unpredictable handling problems caused by reduced wing loading due to over sized motors or battery packs or ancillary gear.
- Overheating or unwanted ESC cut outs due to over propping or undersized motors
- Handling problems due to drastic shift in CG and overall weight distribution.
- Unacceptable flight times due to inefficient “hot” motors or undersized packs
- Airframe structural failure due to increased aerodynamic loads caused by over sized drives and packs.
- Overheating and swelling of battery packs caused by serious drive mismatched.
- Less than optimum motor performance due to incompatibility with the ESC.
- Crashes as a result of servo gear failures caused by excessive loads on the control surfaces or exceeding the maximum airspeed limits.
- A huge disparity in flight performance observed in the promotional videos against actual aircraft.
- Premature Motors, ESC and Battery failures or performance degradation over time due to mismatch setup.
- Gear does not properly fit the airframe and requires modifications.
We do not believe modelers should have to live with compromises in flight performances.
Through hundreds of hours of flight testing our airframe designs, we have established that there is a direct correlation between the airframe and drive system and one affects the other with consequences to the desired aerodynamic performance. That meant airframes and drives should not be treated as individual items isolation but as one whole system.
Due to the extreme lengths undertook in the design of the airframe, and the unprecedented flight testing period to finally achieve the aerodynamic characteristics we desired, we felt a complete solution for this airframe was necessary. As a result we have developed our iPAs, PA Integrated Performance Airframe-Drive System.
We embarked on this quest by first carefully selecting each iPAs component, considering each possible aspect. We then started testing each individual component of the iPAs and subsequently on the airframe itself ensuring impacts on the overall flight performance and aerodynamic characteristics caused by each component are identified and addressed and to ensure all iPAs components interact in full synergy as an integrated flight system within the constraints of the design specifications. Each component was then further refined until a perfect match meeting the performance criteria set are successfully achieved.
So, for the first time flyers has the unique opportunity to experience the exact aerodynamic performance as envisaged by our chief designer and team of test pilots minus all the guess work and unnecessary expenses.

Katana MX is my first 3D plane and I love her so much.
Regardless of your piloting level, this plane will bring a smile to your face.

One of my favorite planes!

I maidened my blue KMX today… WOW!!!! what a beauty
I wasn’t prepared for how unbelievavbly stable, smooth, FLOATY, and precise the KMX is.. It really feels heaps different to the bandit.. SOOOOO much more of the big plane feel. I’ve only tried the 15×8 so far, and it’s great.. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the awesome 6s power train, but it felt perfectly suited and appropriate for the plane.. everything feels right about it.. very powerful and smooth.. it’s got a kind of low down power. i was expecting crazy high rpm or an intensitysort of like the bandit on 4s, but it’s got a lower down power kind of feel.. very very nice.. yet another example of the iPAs setup being so ‘integrated’ with the airfame.. it really is noticeable
I tested it on the bench last night and was drawing about 44A making 1002W if i remember right, with the nanotech 2200 6s 25c, and 1051W, 46A with the dualsky 35C 6s 2200.. man so efficient, should get a good 7 mins flight time for a good hard run.
anyway, I am COMPLETELY happy with this plane.. it is the BEST!! I’ve been flying the new 3dHS 40″ epp full-fuse edge 540 for the last month and been loving it, very agile and well-behaved.. but I think I’ll be putting it aside for this one.. it was like flying in slow motion today in the KMX at first!
rock solid upright harriers, hover and TR.. and that’s with the 15×8!! can’t wait to try the 16×6. and man this plane slows almost to a stop in high alpha.. rolling harriers look great with those huge wings rolling around rhythmically .
this is simple the best plane by far I’ve ever flown, apart from my addy x and bandit too of course

Maidened mine yesterday. Typical PA airframe. Perfection personified. I set my c.g. at 4.75. Hope everyone enjoys this model as much as I do. Best Regards, donnie
menksters @ RCGroups
Put two test flights on mine this morning. Knife edge only needed 1 click of elevator mix. More responsive then my MX but yet seems to fly smoother. Looking forward to having more time to get comfortable with it. Put on two more flights today. I’m more impressed now then I was yesterday. Handles wind better than the X’tra MX.
Brufli @ RCGroups
I was really impressed, I have always like the Extra MX so did not have great expectations for the Katana thinking that the Extra could not be beaten, well how wrong was I! The Katana is incredibly accurate in flight, and super stable in all of the IMAC & 3D manoeuvres I could throw at it. Club members commented on how stable waterfalls and parachutes looked in caparison to there 100 & 150cc models! I need to fly it more to really push its boundary’s but so far it looks like another winner from PA.
Steve Roberts
This is a fantastic flying machine. Not even one click of trim adjustment made. I have around 15 flights on mine now. Loving it! Floats like a butterfly stings like a bee! Smoother than silk, more precise than a micrometer, hovers like a hummingbird, more powerful than a RC locomotive and looks good while doing it!
D.B. Hooper @ RCGroups
I’m a very happy camper
Finished assembling my KMX “iPas Power” kit at 3am and flew the maiden this morning.
Perfect weather… couldn’t be better.
Wow. I have a new favourite. On my first pair of lipos she was a little tail heavy but got it perfect by my third flight.
KE passes are amazing. Fast, slow at high alpha makes no difference… she just tracks dead straight.
I chose to not install the VG’s from the bling kit, just to get a feel for the plane without any aerodynamic aids. The plane flies amazing as is so I can’t wait for next weekend when I have all the CF VG’s installed.
This is an amazing airframe. Thank you Shaun, this one is a definite keeper
demonGti @ RCGroups
Flying the KMX is an extremely rewarding experience.
This model has a fantastically wide flight envelope; capable of flying perfect lines and also able to be an amazing 3D machine, yet carries plenty of momentum into high energy manoeuvres too.
The KMX also exhibits great manners; able to slow to crawl with no tendency to drop a wing.
Like all PA models, It is quick and easy to assemble and can be enjoyed by intermediate and advanced pilots alike.
It’s the perfect plane. I love it.
Malcolm Stiles
I just put my KMX together a few weeks ago with about 20 flights on her. I give this plane a 9 out of 10. Very high quality and a great flyer. Keep up the great work PA
rogersrick123 @ RCGroups
last weekend we had some great flights with our demo Katana MX
everyone on the field was so amazed about the nice flight characteristics of this beauty
3d extra time @ RCGroups
Well, Saturday was the big day – KMX maiden. For various reasons, such as I was feeling a bit under the weather and I’m a crap pilot compared to the majority on here, I kept things pretty sedate but nonetheless came away very very impressed.
There were two main things that struck me. Firstly the power! Or rather power to weight as the lightweight PA construction really makes a difference. The other thing was the amazing precision. I have a 48″ EF Edge 540 and that is very good at precision stuff and was the most precise plane I had by a mile when I got it. Until I got the Sebart Miss Wind pattern plane, that is, which is in another league as you would expect. I flew the Sebart and the KMX back to back on Saturday, and in the still conditions I swear there is very little in it for precision. I suspect the Sebart would win on a windier day, but even so to come anywhere near a pattern ship for precision is a remarkable achievement for something that is so 3D capable as well. The PA team did an amazing job.
mrbeacham68 @ RCGroups
I had my first real go on the Katana MX as I didn’t actually get to fly the first one. It is amazing. The first thing I noticed was on full rudder deflection the Katana goes into a Knife Edge Loop. My Hobbyking Slick on full rudder deflection pulls incredibly hard to the canopy, kinda like it’s trying to commit plane suicide. I call it shit, I think others call it bad coupling. Anyway the Katana MXrocks.

I’m such a big fan of PA.. I’ve been flying for 18 months and had the huge fortune of flying their ‘next generation’ planes the whole time I’ve been learning aerobatics (for the last year).. 4 bandits on 4s, then 4 kmx’s since their release. plus an addiction & a couple of addy x’s along the way.. flying such precise, light, strong, well-behaved planes in the learning stage has helped my progress so much and given me confidence to no end.
the kmx is it for me though.. the ultimate airplane!!
teshiecat @ RCGroups
the planes you have created have allowed me to advance my skill level dramatically. Prior to purchasing the instructional videos, and the airplanes, I was a proficient flyer, but after, the results are dramatic. I fly your planes every morning for two hours. My club members are starting to purchase the planes as I have told them that each plane is a tool. They each excel in different areas so ya can’t just have one. Anyway, thanks again for creating such amazing aircraft for us to fly. I’ve had a couple of tuff years personally, and having these planes challenge me every day has kept my spirits up and goals high…
Thanks again!!
THE GROUND IS THE LIMIT !!

Maidened last weekend and I have to say this is the best airframe I have ever flown! Smooth, locked in and a dream slow or fast. Snaps insane!
mulgaman @ RCGroups
AMAZING PLANE!!! – I own the yellow MKX like in the photo! – The best flyer I have ever owned, hands down – extremely precise even in very slow flight – The Vortex Gens are excellent!!!
Andreas Heger @ RCGroups
Here’s the situation….,,
Fu$&@/ing PERFECT !!!!!!!
First flight, absolutely flawless.. Second flight adjusted rudder expo to 46, shifted CG back a hair with the batts, and added 8% throttle boost thru the throttle curve.. And every one cheered.. Thank you again for all of your help.. I’m speechless!
Warmest regards,
Lawrence
Shipping was timely and customer service was very good with my recent purchases with PA.

Wanted to thank everybody at Precision Aerobatics for getting my order out so fast and for the customer service that is great. I added to my order twice and the good people at PA dealt with me with in a patient and pleasant manner. The packing is top notch one of the best in the industry. Thanks again for the great experience.
Richard Roberts
Dear Lady: this is just a simple letter of praise for Cheryl Widner at P.A. U.S.A. – I recently made an order of two electric RC planes and made a mistake in doing so!
Cheryl called me to verify this is what I wanted (it was not) she helped me get this order right and answered all of my questions and needs in such a courteous and professional manner, I felt this letter was in order! Not only do you sell the best model aircraft on the planet, you also have top notch employees and support crew like Cheryl !
Keep up the Good work,
Dennis A. Hobson
Many companies have support for e-mail questions. However, very few answer in a timely, accurate fashion as you did. This tells me that PA understands the value of good customer service. I will definitely purchase my next aerobatics aircraft from PA.
Cheers,
Paul Herman
Thank you for your call back, and the time you spent with me today. If this plane fly as well as your customer service this will be my favorite plane. Customer service any more seems to lack politeness, concern and urgency. This is not the case with you are your company. This Hobby is my fun and release I appreciate your friendliness politeness concern and urgency. Thanks again and look forward to meeting you some day.
Sincerely
Tim Parrish
Thanks so much! The service is just as brilliant as the plane it self!

Hello P.A. I would like to thank all of you Cheryl, Jim and Jerry and anyone else who works at P.A. For the customer service, you are so nice and accommodating. Very professional but like talking to a friend. Wanted to thank the guys for there shipping and packing well the packing is the best I have dealt with on-line, they do the little thing to keep your products safe like taping props to a piece of cardboard. Owe yeah they make Great planes to. Thanks again P.A. Richard R.

PA product is outstanding good and solid planes! (I have 4 Pa planes in my collection, and i’m very satisfied with their performance!)
Paul Gunnar Strand, Norway
WOW What a GREAT plane!!!
2 weeks back I got to maiden it in a super strong cross wind that was gusting – it made for an uncomfortable maiden. Only had two sort of scary flights and I didnt want to risk it anymore. Too much beauty and hard work. I didnt get any real feel for it except that it was super light in the air. So I’ve been waiting for some calmer conditions,,,,
Then I was flying last Sunday, I had a few planes with me and the wind calmed right down later in the afternoon. So I screwed in the wings, loaded in a couple of 3s packs and took to the skies. Holy Sh*t – what a plane, easily the most precise and responsive and yet easiest to fly plane I’ve ever taken to the skies with.
My first KE was so perfect and the plane just seemd to be locked in place, it didn’t move an inch for 100 metres – it felt like if I let go of the Tx it would just keep on flying a KE to the horizon! (oh BTW, don’t try that).
And then it just got better and better…. man this is one well engineered plane.
I know all you guys know this, but I just needed to tell someone, my wife doesn’t give a rats, I just get the…. “oh that’s nice honey I’m glad you enjoyed it”.
Now all I need is the 70″ version!!
Cheers
Flying Fiz @ RCGroups
Thank you for providing these great Precision Aerobatics airplanes to the world! Extremeflight, Pilot-Rc, Eflite, Aeroworks, Great Planes, Hangar 9 could go to bed and sleep, compared with the PA machines! I have never seen or flown a electric balsa/carbon plane with this kind of light weight and extreme durability as the PA planes! I’m on my third PA bird now (there will be a fourth), and the best so far. The Extra MX is amazing! It looks great and the performance is fantastic! The only thing I wish you could do to the Extra mx is to add carbonfiber in the front of the glasfiber cowling as you already have in the back, it cracks up really easily.
Again! The best electric flyng machine I’ve ever had.
To everyone PA team – Thanks!
Best regards,
Robin W. Karlsen
Thanks again Shaun – I’m also going to grab a blue addy x any day now.
Btw the KMX is just the best and most precise plane I’ve ever flown – just awesome.
Phil Maher
I maidened my KMX in 18mph gusts yesterday and it outshines every other plane in my 2 dozen+ collection.
Even in those winds, the KMX comes out of maneuvers on point so startlingly precise it was like a telepathic link. I became aware that I was unaware of my thumbs on the sticks. Things like vert snaps to hover, hammerheads, etc. draw themselves. High alpha horsing felt like I was cheating the laws of physics.
All other planes would fight and wallow in such wind, but the KMX was linked solid and fun.
I suspect some of our club members will be your future customers.
Thnx for the KMX, and your support.
I now try to decide which PA plane is next…
Thanks Cheryl!
Glenn
Team Precision Aerobatics,
Today I had another “Precision Day”. Another amazing maiden and what I can tell is going to be a love affair with my new plane. After 25 years of building and flying about every kind of plane, I have now again topped them all. Two weeks ago, My new Ultimate AMR (my son and I both have one) surpassed my wildest expectations and I though it would be tough to beat. The Ultimate now has over 50 flights and the Katana has two. What strikes me the most is that in all of the materials you hand out, your sales process at the Toledo Weak Signal Show, and your manuals tell a story of “precision” that almost seems to good to be true. Well….you have another believer and promoter. I would love to help you in any way I can to promote the planes in my area. A few of our local hobby stores have yet to discover what the true value in your planes really is. Nothing I have ever flown compares in any way to these two great machines. I am going to stop with the praise right now because I will start to sound like a paid spokes person(Just a RC Pilot from Canton, Ohio)……..please feel free to add my comments to any materials or your website. You simply deserve this praise. My new Katana took off and needed one click of elevator trim and flew absolutely perfect…..I see why it was named Aerobat of The Year by Model Airplane News.
A special thanks to Cheryl Widner…she has been amazing to deal with and has taken great care of me…….
A special thanks to Shaun for working with your team to demand that these planes surpass anything I have ever flown…..it must take enormous amounts of research and work to create such wonderful machines…..
Shaun..now that my planes are “proven precision” I do have a few helpful suggestions if you would like to call me and discuss.
My hats off to all of you…….
Scott Waite
bought a purple Mini Katana around 2005 (I think) and it flies like it is lighter than air. I have had 2 incidences in my years of flying it that brought me down to earth and I now realize that Precisions Areobatics planes are infact not lighter than air but they do indeed fly better than any other plane on the market. After years of enjoying my Mini Katana I finally broke down and bought a big brother for my mini in the Katana MX. I really do not know why I waited so long because my new KMX flies even better than I ever would have imagined. It is so precise and does exactly what your fingers direct. Not only are the planes well designed and fly great butn the customer service is wonderful. Thanks Precision Aerobatics for a great experience.
Carl Ravey
I’m on my third PA plane and all I can say is that there is no other electric acft company at this level. The planes are hands down a work of art in building techniques and their performance is incredible!! I received a new Katana for Christmas and during the build I realized that the Vortex generators had accidentally not be sent with the package deal. I called and talked with Sheryl who took care of it immediately and hooked me up even when she was pulling her hair out preparing for the Ontario show. Thanks Sheryl. AA++ in my books guys. I always enjoy seeing what you guys come out with next. I would love to own at least one of each of PA’s planes.
Jim Williams
Love my Ultimate and Katana MX. Both flies very light, slower and realy aerobatic. The fusion of carbon balsa is strong and light weight. Both flies really diffrent but really great !!! I’m really excited cause i’m in the assembly of XR52 and will fly it in about 1 week !! I have 20 years of experience in rc plane and never seen excellent planes like precision aerobatics…Look is very nice of all there planes. And i dont wan’t to buy other plane than precision aerobatics !! It’s comes a little bit expansive cause I’M from quebec but I Personaly think it’s worth the cost !!
Anny Lussier
I have a KMX. I started with foam 3D, then a cheap balsa 3D. When I got my KMX I could not believe how easy it is to land, how floaty it is and how straight stays in stalled maneuvers. I won’t bother with budget planes anymore. Waste of money.
David Rusden
My Katana MX is one of the most admired planes at the club and I love it. I believe the Precision Aerobatics’ Team has stepped up to the challenge. I have called to simply ask questions about the VOX prop’s and they have gone out of their way to get me answers. I plan to continue enjoying the products you provide for years to come. Thanks for doing it the “Right Way”!
Stephen Miller
I have been flying and teaching RC Flying now for over 22 years. I have built and everything from basic trainers to 100 plus mph pattern planes. My favorite planes are aerobats. Last year changed everything for me now that I have found my new friends at Precision Aerobatics. I have a Katana MX and two Ultimate AMRs. It is sad to say but the rest of my fleet of over 20 planes are now collectors items sitting and collecting dust. Both my son Scott and I met the wonderful Precision Aerobatics Team in Toledo at the Weak Signal Show…and at first the claims seemed too good to be true. To my surprise, the claims of these airplanes being far superior are absolutely true. I have over 100 flying hours on my PA planes and I cannot get enough of them and they have taken my flying to an entirely new level. Everyone who has watched me fly them have been blown away by their beauty and PRECISION Flying. They make flying far more enjoyable with their predictable behavior. Also, when I have had any questions, observations, or customer needs they have been met with superior customer service. Cheryl and Jim have become RC friends….Thank you to both of you. The Katana MX was named Aerobat of the Year because it simply is………

my katana is a pure pleasure to fly and it relaxes me every time. unlike other 3d type planes that only serve to frustrate the pilot with every move.
thanks for great planes keep up the good work.
Joe Lossen
Excellent customer service and love the planes. From the time I purchased my Katana MX and XR-52, I’ve been impressed with how friendly and quick PA are to respond to my questions. For the customer service alone, PA have won a life long customer.

It’s hard to imagine a company being bold enough to call themselves “Precision” Aerobatics. Well you hit it right on the head. My two PA planes (Katana and Bandit) are the finest planes I have ever seen. The Bandit is sexy. When I walk on to the field carrying my Bandit, it’s like walking into a room with a beautiful woman. Sleek, and well put together. My club members actually gather around my Bandit and admire it. All of my future planes will be Precision Aerobatics, because I’m not rich, so I want to put my money into absolute quality.

I started my addiction with an extra 260. next i saw the addiction in a video and thought wow what an ugly plane. when i watched the video i bought one and then another. then the addy x came along . have had 6 of them. the addy xl have had 2 so far. also along the way i have had an extra mx a katana mx an ultimate and an electric shock.does anyone know of a group that can help with this sort of addiction? I just ordered a new Addy X today

I build these two IPA kits (Bandit and KMX) almost 18 months ago but only started flying them now. Great birds. You make really awesome models!

It’s been a long wait but I finally have my XR 61 and have flown this awesome machine. So far I’m very happy with its performance. After coming from flying the EF 60” airframes then flying hundreds of flights on my 3 KMXs. I have come to really appreciate how good it is to fly a plane with a light wing loading there are just so many advantages of this. With one of the biggest advantages being that it gives you a slipt second longer to correct any mistakes that you make. I think the KMX is an outstanding airframe.
I’m that happy with the XR61 that I’m going to place an order for another one.
I cannot wait to see what your next design will bring. I hope that the rumours of something bigger are true.

I just had an enjoyable weekend flying this plane. Almost no trim needed and it does everything I want it to, no question asked.
Thanks!

I now have 17 flights on this wonderful airplane. I think that it is a great design with excellent construction and that it is a good value.
Several guys at my flying club have been checking it out closely.
Thank you for your interest and consideration in my concerns.

Hi Shaun.
I’m really looking forward to flying this one (Extra Mx). my Bandit is three years old and going strong. Katana MX two years old and perfect, Addiction X flawless, AMR two years old and stunning, Addiction 3D beautiful. They all run as good as they did the day I got them, all get polished weekly and look brand new after hundreds of flights. I can’t say enough about these planes and your design. At this point I have six of your planes. I don’t have another manufacture’s plane. I just love the effortless reliability of your airplanes.
Warmest regards
Lawrence
Just received my red KMX with bling and motor. It arrived in perfect condition. The construction is beautiful. I’m very impressed with the quality and engineering. Looking forward to assembling it.

Soldering Guide:
PA Team Pilot Hans Kahlert continues along the “Builds” series with a special episode covering the proper techniques for soldering electrical components of your model. These methods are applicable for all soldering procedures including servo extensions and battery connectors.
PA recently upgraded the servos that are included with the iPAs packages with better performance in mind. The NXT High Voltage servos are far superior to the Hitec servos that were previously supplied with the models. They are effectively improving the plane performance and as such we felt that its not a good idea to hold on the upgrade of the servos in the iPAs package just because of the servo bays of the models that were just produced was already cut for Hitec. Instead we supply the model with spacers that allow the user to modify the servo bay to fit the NXT servos.
In this video Shaun Vanunu, Designer of PA models is showing how these spacers should be installed
Recommended Props
VOX 15×7 wood – a good prop for sport flying with decent freestyle performance. It allows very good flight duration (due to the low amp drawn and high efficiency) and is best used in calm weather. Less stability and ailerons authority during hovering when compared to the Vox 16X6. Slower roll rate compared to the Vox 15×8. Can be a good propeller for initial flights to get used to the plane (due to the softer throttle range/feel) or if slower flight speed is desired but still with good flight performance.
VOX 15×8 wood – An excellent match with overall performance for fast aerobatics and 3D when using 2 x PA V2 11.1V 2,200mAh battery packs (i.e. 6S). The higher pitch and extra punch make it a better choice in a windier day. Great flight speed, faster roll rate, tighter tumbles and waterfalls compared to the Vox 15×7. Since the KMX has a very wide flight envelope from high speed freestyle maneuvers to very slow and easy 3D, the extra flight speed this prop offers is essential, especially, in sustaining the flight speed during the transition between maneuvers so you don’t lose much of the energy. It draws a little more amps than the Vox 15×7 but with the KMX efficient design and lightweight it still provides excellent flight duration because less throttle is needed to fly the plane. This prop is a must-have with the KMX.
VOX 16×6 wood – this is a high range propeller to be used with the Thrust 50 motor. An excellent propeller for low and slow 3D! Keep in mind that this prop offers a LOT of thrust and a bit slower flight speed. That will cause throttle to be twitchier during hovering and harriers, therefore, will require sensitive throttle input. A few clicks of throttle will cause the plane to change altitude, especially, with more aft CG since then the elevator becomes more twitchy too (change in altitude). That requires more pilot skills to master, therefore, we have done a lot more tests to get the peak in performance and if you choose to use this prop our recommendation is to set up the TX with Spoilerons ,as suggested on the manual, and when doing harriers and hovering activate the Spoilerons (on a switch). That will reduce the throttle sensitivity (due to a few aerodynamic effects) and will help the plane to lock-in and not to change altitude easily, especially, during the slower high AOA turns. The excellent ailerons authority allows more stable and controlled hovering (ridiculously easy!), TR and harriers. It requires throttle management (using full power only on vertical climbs/up-lines due to its tremendous thrust). Very nice prop sound, especially while hovering 😉
The 16×6 will allow generally good flight speed but still slower than the Vox 15×8, so if you are more after speed for IMAC, sport or freestyle you may want to consider the Vox 15×8 although we strongly recommend trying one of each. Start with the Vox 15×8 or 15×7 and then later on, once comfortable with the KMX, swap the prop to the Vox 16×6 and decide which one you like the best. This will allow you to explore the full potential of the KMX wide flight envelope.
